As a non-profit corporation, JDT has found a way to link their art to the community, achieved through performing in intimate settings, giving lecture demonstrations, teaching within local schools and providing opportunities for members our South Florida community to experience the magic of performing. The company’s philosophy is to give its gifts back to the community. Locally, JDT has performed at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center’s (AARLCC) first and second anniversary celebrations; the 2nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Award Gala Celebration, The Martin Luther King “Sounds of Freedom” performance, both of which were held at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts; Hollywood Academy for the Arts, Grand Opening; and the Haitian Bicentennial Awards Gala. JDT recently toured Barcelona and Madrid, Spain in a Cotton Revue; the company’s first international performance. For the past several years, Jubilee Dance Theatre has provided classes for children and adults at AARLCC at an extremely affordable rate. In the fall of 2005 JDT hosted the first “Diversity in the Mix”- Dance Festival, which was a huge success with local and international guest artist.
